Cambodia and China will sign an MOU on 400,000 tonnes of rice exports to the Chinese market.


The Ministry of Commerce has announced that in the future, Cambodia and China will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 400,000 tons of rice exports to the Chinese market. The agreement is to buy four types of rice from Cambodia from August 2019 to the end of December 2020.




According to a statement from the Ministry of Commerce, both sides agreed on a draft memorandum to sign on the 2nd Belt and Road Forum by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HUN SEN, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, in Beijing, China, on April 27, 2019.


According to the Commerce Ministry's announcement, through the Trans-Ad Hoc Company of Cambodia, they held discussions with COFCO Corporation of the Republic of China on April 12, 2019 on the preparation of a Memorandum of Understanding for exporting Cambodian rice to the Chinese market.


According to the MoU, the MoU will come into effect immediately after the two parties successfully signed. The first memorandum signed on January 11, 2018 on the import of 300,000 tons of rice from Cambodia.
